Interview

What first got you into riding?
I always rode my bike as a little kid, but going to the trails for the first time and watching people ride got me hooked.

Out of all your video parts, web edits etc, do you have a favourite clip ever?
I really like the clip in This Is United of the sideways wallride over the hole in Hawaii. It reminds me of how much fun we all had on that trip and how beautiful Hawaii is.

What’s an average day in the life of Geoff Slattery like?
Wake up, get some coffee and food. Go to the skatepark or just pedal around for a bit. Then on a good day, it would end with either a game of soccer or some golf followed by some cold ones.

If you had to choose one spot to ride for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Posh, because its just so much fun.

What’s the best thing about where you currently live?
Family and friends.

What’s the worst thing about where you currently live?
Shitty winters.

What was the first contest you rode in, and where did you place?
I rode in the Vert planet(name of the skatepark)contest when I was like 12 or 13, and I got first place.

What was your bike set up and clothing of choice at the time?
I rode a S&M trail version frame, 20”, and I probably had on a pair of jeans and and a blue t shirt, with duct tape over the huge holes in my jeans.

What is your favourite and least favourite BMX related fad?
The worst fad in bmx, is the shitty websites that kids just talk shit on all day. But at the same time it might be the best cause its really fun to read some of those and just laugh, because people say some dumb shit.

If you could be ‘pro’ in any other sport what would it be and why?
Hmm, you could name any sport and it would be fun to me, but I might say golf. I’ve been really into it lately, and enjoy the game a lot. Very frustrating but fun. It would be awesome to be in the NHL, I grew up playing hockey as a kid, plus its fun to throw your weight around and hit people. hahaha.

Do you have any specific rituals or things you do before doing tricks / things you are scared of?
I knock on wood sometimes before I try something. If I do it once, and I’m trying something a few times I have to do it each time after that.

What was the scariest thing you ever done on your bike?
Ramada gap or a drop in on this really skinny ledge.

Outside of BMX, what is your favourite way to waste time?
Go golfing, player soccer or hockey. Sit around my fire pit with friends and just chill.

Favorite Vehicle?
My shitty Plymouth van.
