What first got you into riding?
Saw all the bigger boys doing it at the local park and thought it looked sweet.

Out of all your video parts, web edits etc, do you have a favourite clip ever?
Nothing off the top of my head. Probably something Thomas Fritcher filmed back in the early WeThePeople days.

What’s an average day in the life of Ashley Charles like?
Generally at the moment a good day involves a combination of things, good food, coffee, bikes, sunny weather and woman.

If you had to choose one spot to ride for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
The park in Bilbao Spain. The park is sick and it’s right on the beach too.

What’s the best thing about where you currently live?
Sunny weather everyday.

What’s the worst thing about where you currently live?
Miss the lads.

What was the first contest you rode in, and where did you place?
Southsea Easter jam not sure where I placed.

What was your bike set up and clothing of choice at the time?
Bike was knackered, pretty sure I found a crack in the down tube on the way to the contest. Clothing would have been brown cords and adidas shell toes.

What is your favourite and least favourite BMX related fad?
Least favorite would be plastic bike parts. Favorite would have to be the peg chink.

If you could be ‘pro’ in any other sport what would it be and why?
Surfing because the best places for it are usually somewhere tropical and full of bikini babes.

Do you have any specific rituals or things you do before doing tricks / things you are scared of?
No rituals really, my knee is always on my mind though as it’s pretty screwed.

What was the scariest thing you ever done on your bike?
Dropping in on Southsea vert ramp for the first time. Pretty sure I sat on the deck for over an hour.

Outside of BMX, what is your favourite way to waste time?
Smashing some balls at the driving range seems to be happening on the reg these days.

Old Mustang.
